Northeastern State University has three campuses in the state of Oklahoma. The flagship campus is located in Tahlequah, a city in Cherokee County. This campus offers 58 undergraduate programs in various disciplines, 16 graduate degrees, and four graduate certifications. The Northeastern State University has its roots traced to the Cherokee National Female Seminary in 1851, making it one of the frontiers of higher education in Oklahoma. The Tahlequah campus boasts its vintage historic charm mixed with facets of modernization all over the campus. Tahlequah is a small city with a tight-knit community and a population of over 16,000. The third campus located in Broken Arrow was founded in 2001. The Broken Arrow campus hosts 30 undergraduate programs in business, technology, liberal arts, education, science, and health profession, as well as 18 graduate programs. Both Muskogee and Broken Arrow are more populated than Tahlequah, with Broken Arrow being the fourth largest city in the whole state of Oklahoma.
