This article aims to introduce the international student support offered by the College of New Caledonia.
They say that when you start college, you leave home. What they don’t tell you is that when you enroll in studies at the College of New Caledonia, there’s a great new home ready and waiting for you.
College of New Caledonia (CNC) is a post-secondary educational institution with its main campus located at the heart of Prince George, British Columbia. CNC has played an important role in training and educating residents in northern B.C. since 1969.
The college stands out with its line up of support for international students, ensuring that their study abroad experience leads to not just academic success but also an optimal experience while staying in BC.
- Get strong support from the International Education Centre
College of New Caledonia offers full support to international students, from choosing a major to applying for jobs and counselling careers. International Academic Advisors at CNC are responsible for helping students select majors and courses that suit their interests. For students who have concerns about finances, study permits, and health insurance, CNC’s International Education staff will provide sufficient guidance and assistance.
- University transfer system and transferable credit
British Columbia has the most developed transfer system in Canada, and CNC is part of that system. Thanks to the broad partnerships built by CNC, some students will have the chance to transfer to top universities, for example, the University of British Columbia, after finishing their first two-year university study at CNC. - International Student Leadership & Ambassadorship Program
For international students who are interested in enhancing leadership skills, CNC provides them with plenty of opportunities, from hosting and organizing cultural and student events to fundraising. Students who complete this program will receive a reference letter as a testimony of leadership skills to pursue further education.
- Various cultural events & activities
To enrich international students’ lives, CNC offers various cultural events and activities, like the Lunar New Year celebration, sightseeing trips to Jasper and the Ancient Forest, ski trips, movie nights, potluck lunches, dances, sports, and more.
- Eligibility for Post-Graduate Work Permits
A benefit of studying at CNC is that students can apply for Post-Graduate Work Permits after graduation, allowing them to gain valuable Canadian work experience. Depending on the length of the student’s study program, a work permit under the PGWP program may be issued for 12 to 36 months.
